This is a six week block of wheel throwing lessons for beginners and improvers. It is suitable for those who have not done any throwing before or for those who have done a previous beginners course or a taster session and want more time to practice what they have learned with the guidance of a tutor.

When signing up to the course please ensure you can make all dates as it will not be possible to offer catch up sessions. Please see below for further details.

This block of classes will run for 6 sessions over Tuesday evenings.

What we'll cover across the 6 weeks:

Weeks one and two: The basics of wheel throwing - with plenty of emphasis on hands-on practise on the wheels. We'll start with throwing cylinders and then learn how to make basic alterations to the shape.

Week three: More wheel throwing practice - focusing on pulling up higher, opening up forms into bowl shapes and closing up forms into vase and bottle shapes.

Week four and five: Selection of 5 pots to take forward for firing (the ones that don't make it can be recycled back into clay for future use). Trimming, tidying, decoration and adjustments of selected pots for bisque firing and an introduction to making and attaching handles.

Week six: Glazing of our bisque fired pots.

Finished pots will be ready for collection approximately 2-3 weeks after the end of the course. We will email you when they are ready.

The cost of the course is: £275 per person payable at the time of booking.

Cancellations:

When you book on the course please ensure you can attend all six dates as there are no catch up sessions. 

If you need to cancel the lesson block once full payment has been made we will try and fill the space. If we can re-fill the space you will be issued a voucher, which can be used within the year for booking onto a future block of lessons. If we cannot fill the space we will not be able to offer you a refund.
